The Friends of the Library have monthly meetings on the third Wednesday of each month at 10 a.m. in Library’s Multicultural Room on the Lower Level. All dues paying members are welcome to attend.

We are in the holiday season and that means shopping!


There is a way to help the Friends just by doing your usual shopping.

Raffle Baskets to Benefit the Friends Scholarships

Would you like to be part of the Raffle Basket Committee? The Friends are looking for individuals to help with the collection of items for the baskets, putting the baskets together and /or selling raffle tickets. Raffle tickets will be a $1.00/each or $5.00/6. Raffle tickets will be sold during Library Week, April 12-18, and at the Aprill 22 Author Luncheon.

Author Luncheon featuring Pam Jenoff

The 2015 Author Luncheon will take place at Woodcrest Country Club on Wednesday, April 22 at noon. From now until February14th, the luncheon prise is $33.00. From February 15 to April 1 the luncheon price will be $37.00.

 

If you would like to reserve a table for 10, please submit $330.00 and entrees can be selected at a later date.

Annual Volunteer Breakfast and Scholarship Awards

The Friends of the Cherry Hill Public Library held its Annual Volunteer Breakfast on May 22nd where Scholarships were awarded to four Cherry Hill High Schools students entering their freshman year of college.

$1,000 was awarded to Cherry Hill High School West graduate Eytan Gittler who will attend Georgetown University and major in Nursing; $500 was awarded to Cherry Hill High School West graduate Marissa Clemens who will attend the College of New Jersey and major in Elementary Education/English; $250 was awarded to Cherry Hill High School East graduate Amanda Friedman who will attend Haverford College and major in Sociology; and $250 was awarded to Cherry Hill High School East graduate Sean Dan who will attend the University of Texas at Austin and major in Mechanical Engineering.

The Library's Scholarship Program was established in 2011 by a former Volunteer Board Member who wanted to help the Cherry Hill community by advancing educational opportunities for its students. This year, there were 19 applicants (one-third more than last year) increasing the number of recipients from three to four. The quality and quantity of the students deemed it necessary to award more than three winners. The winners were chosen based on their academic records, their essays describing what makes the Library special to them and recommendations from their mentors.


Got Books?

Anyone is welcome to donate books to the Friends of the Library to be sold at upcoming Book Sales. Books donations are accepted at the library:

Monday – Thursday
9:30 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Friday & Saturday
9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Sunday
1 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

If you have a bag or two, you can drop them off at the Circulation Desk. If you have a trunk load of books, please pull around to the employee entrance of the Library and someone will help you unload.
