Fusion is the ultimate accessibility tool for schools, agencies, training centers, and businesses where individuals with vision loss are served. Fusion provides the best of both worlds – ZoomText® , with its screen magnification and visual enhancements for screen viewing ease, coupled with the power and speed of JAWS® for screen reading functionality.

JAWS is a screen-reading software that uses a speech synthesizer to assists with accessing software and the internet.

Large Print keyboards can be found in the Computer Lab, Lower Level and in Youth Services, Upper Level.

Magic, a Screen magnification software, is available on select computers in the Library’s Computer Lab, Lower Level.

A handheld magnifier at the circulation desk for use in reading materials ie. newspapers, magazines, etc. Not for circulation.

Merlin Ultra is a video magnifier system for optimum viewing for reading or writing. 24’ H x 20” W LCD screen. Change background colors and text sizes to fit your needs. Features include: additional task light, positive/negative image modes, and HDMI Computer Pass-through.

Child-sized noise canceling headphones are available to use during your next visit to the Library. Visit the Youth Services Desk to borrow a pair during your library visit.

The Cherry Hill Library offers audio players to new cardmembers of the NJ State Library’s Talking Book and Braille Center. Customers must be registered with TBBC. Please speak with a staff member to learn more about this service.

Talking Typer is a typing and computer keyboard training software for the visually impaired and is located on select computers.
Location: Computer Lab, Lower Level
The library has voice amplifiers that can be used during library programming for the presenter’s voice to be amplified for attendees.
ZoomText is a computer application that enables visually-impaired or blind computer users to see and/or hear everything displayed on the computer screen. ZoomText has screen magnification and read-aloud capabilities.

The Cherry Hill Public Library offers a range of writing, reading, and conversation classes for ESOL learners led by Library volunteers For more information visit the English as a Second Language (ESOL) page.
The Library’s website has built-in translation to Arabic, Espanol, Chinese, Japanese, and Russian. Locate the Translation button in the upper right hand of the screen. For more languages visit translate.google.com, enter chplnj.org in the “websites” tab, and follow the Google Translate link to the Library website.
LEAP (Library Equal Access Program) is for New Jersey residents 55 and older who have a change in vision. LEAP provides free computer and iPad training classes in partnership with New Jersey Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CBVI).

Sometimes one-on-one help is best. Our staff can offer assistance with computer skills, personal devices, job searching, project research, and more. CHPL membership is required. To request an appointment fill out our Librarian By Appointment Request Form online or in-person.

For your listening pleasure we offer audiobooks and audio ebook for readers of all ages. Our Youth Services Department also offers Read Alongs.
Adult Audiobook Collection is located on the Main Level.
Wonderbooks & Vox Books are located in Youth Services Collection, Upper Level.
Read-along books (like Wonderbook and Vox) are easy to use. The slim audio box in the front of the book has control buttons that allow you to play, pause, stop, and adjust volume. Readers can listen with the speaker or use headphones. Wonderbook includes a Learning Mode that features fun narrator-led questions to encourage a discussion about the book that was just read.
The Youth Services has a small collection of books in Braille for young children.

CHPL has a vast collection of accessible digital material available from books, audiobooks, films, language learning, and music. Digital materials are available for free using your library card using the Libby by Overdrive and Hoopla Digital apps in your preferred app store.
Large Print Fiction and Non-Fiction for Adults can be found on the Main Level, in the Audio/Visual Collection. Large Print materials for children can be found interfiled within the standard print Juvenile collection.

The Cherry Hill Public Library is proud to be part of the BARD Pilot Program. Access to audiobooks, audio magazines, and Braille files can now be downloaded for TBBC members at the Cherry Hill Library by our certified staff.
This service is available to individuals with a visual or physical impairment and those with a reading disability. Ask a Reference Librarian for more information.

Adjustable Study Desks
The Library offers study desks that are wheelchair accessible and can be adjusted to your height comfort. Please ask for assistance in adjusting the desk height.

This ADA compliant lactation pod allows nursing parents a completely private place to breastfeed or pump. Access to the pod can be acquired through the Mamava app or by requesting an entry code at the Youth Services Desk.

Township Senior & Disabled Residents Bus Service
Cherry Hill Township offers bus service for free to residents age 62 and up, and runs Monday through Friday. Service is offered within Cherry Hill’s boundaries.

NJ State Library Talking Book and Braille Center (TBBC)
Founded in 1967, TBBC is a library that provides no-cost, home-delivered services, on behalf of the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled to children, teens, and adults in New Jersey who have difficulty reading standard print or trouble holding a book.
TBBC’s services include audiobooks and audiobook players, audio news reading service, braille books, large print books for children (K-12) and young adults, and downloadable braille.

National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled, Library of Congress
The National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS), Library of Congress, administers a free national library program that provides braille and recorded materials to people who cannot see regular print or handle print materials.
The Richard West Assistive Technology Advocacy Center (ATAC)
ATAC ‘s mission is to increase awareness of and access to Assistive Technology devices and services for New Jersey residents of all abilities so they can live, work, and play as independently as possible in the fashion of their choice. ATAC is one of the many resources offered by Disability Rights New Jersey.
In advancing this mission, ATAC will do the following:
- Offers educational programs in person and online to promote public awareness of Assistive Technology to the whole of New Jersey
- Provide short term loans of Assistive Technology devices
- Supply demonstrations and training of Assistive Technology
- Offer resources on how to obtain funding for Assistive Technology
