Library Closure Information

CHPL is closed to the public

We are providing Contactless Pickup and remote services.


Contactless Pickup Hours:
Monday - Saturday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., with additional hours on Wednesday evenings until 7 p.m.

Book drops are open. These include the book drops in front of CHPL, inside the library, and at the Post Office on Marlkress Road.

Contactless Pickup & Holds

Prefer the safety of your home? Utilize our Contactless Pickup service!

You can email chplref@chplnj.org or call us at 856.667.0300 opt. 2 to request books or materials to be placed on hold.

Once you are notified that your items are ready, call 856.667.0300 opt. 2 to schedule an appointment to pick up your materials. Contactless Pickup items are checked out in advance and placed by the main entrance.

Returning Items and Late Fees

  • Books, audiobooks, CDs, DVDs, and video games can all be returned in our outdoor book drops at CHPL and at the Post Office on Marlkress Road.
  • Once your books and other items are received at CHPL they will be put into quarantine for 72 hours.
  • They will NOT be checked in until after quarantine.
  • This means they will not be removed from your account until after 72 hours.
  • Fines will accrue during our closure. Preferred method of payment is PayPal or check (mailing address below).

  • CHPL is NOT accepting donations of books or materials.
  • Available space at the library is being used to quarantine returned items.
  • Goodwill and Better World Book bins are great places to drop off book donations.
  • Children's books (ages 0-14) can be donated to BookSmiles.
  • We are accepting monetary donations. Please visit our "Support Your Library" page for more information. Thank you for your generosity!

Online Reference & Interlibrary Loans

Need the help of a librarian? Email chplref@chplnj.org. A librarian will respond during our hours of operation.

Interlibrary loans are still operational at this time. There is a $2 fee per request. Email chplref@chplnj.org or call 856.667.0300 x2 for assistance. Calls and emails returned Monday – Friday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Youth Services Book Match Service
Kids & Teens looking for personalized book recommendations can fill out our online form and receive an email with a list of titles to borrow from CHPL. Our YS librarians will place 3 of those books on hold for you, so you can utilize our Contactless Pickup service to get them from the library! A library card is required to use this service.

Adult Services Book Match Service
Adults can fill out an online form to receive personalized book recommendations by email from our librarians. Three of those recommended titles will be placed on hold for you, so you can utilizing our Contactless Pickup service to get them from the library! A library card is required to use this service.

Online Book Browsing
Use our book-matching databases to explore reading recommendations based on your reading preferences and favorite authors.

Computer Lab

Starting Friday, November 27 CHPL is closed to the public and the computer lab will not be available.​

A copier is now available during the hours of Contactless Pickup. The copy machine prints black and white copies only. Change or single dollar bills accepted. No appointment needed.

Volunteering at CHPL

We are not currently accepting applications for Adult Volunteers or Teen Volunteers.

Teens in grades 6-12 can visit our Teen Volunteering page or contact Jasmine Riel at jriel@chplnj.org for more information on virtual volunteering opportunities.

Library Card Information

Renewing Your Library Card

CHPL cardholders can temporarily renew their library cards by calling us at 856.667.0300 opt. 2 or emailing us at chplref@chplnj.org. Non-resident cardholders who paid for their membership will be charged the correct membership fee that can be paid via Paypal during our closure.

Cherry Hill Resident cardholders who want to extend their privileges for the full 2 years will be required to email a copy of their valid identification to our Supervisor of Circulation at jharmon@chplnj.org.

Creating a Library Card

During our closure, Cherry Hill residents can apply for a library card and receive their library card number by email. Once the library reopens, new cardholders can pick up their physical cards at the Circulation Desk.

Apply for a Cherry Hill library card by filling out our online card application.

Non-resident patrons who would like to pay for a membership can do so by filling out our online card application. Once the card is made, their account will be charged the correct membership fee that can be paid via Paypal during our closure.

Patrons will be required to email a copy of their valid identification. Visit our Membership Page. for more information including accepted forms of ID and non-resident membership fees.
