Library Items

Where and when can I return my library books?
The Book Drops are open at CHPL and at the Post Office on Marklkress Road. The ONLY items to put in the book drops at this time are:

  • books
  • audiobooks
  • CDs
  • DVDs
  • Video Games

CLICK HERE to see the items that may NOT be returned in the book drops. Please hold onto these materials until further notice.

Library staff will quarantine returned materials for these suggested periods of time:
72 hours for paper-based items
72 hours for CDs, DVDs, plastic-covered books, courier totes, and bins.

What if my overdue materials accrue late fees?
Do NOT worry about fines--you will not receive any fines for items due back during our closure.

How can I renew my books?
Do NOT try to renew books--please hold onto them.

Should I clean my books when I return them?
Do NOT worry about cleaning your books--we will handle that when we reopen.

How can I request items to be put on hold?
Do NOT request items--there is NO staff in the building to process requests.

How can I request an Interlibrary Loan?
Do NOT request an interlibrary loan--there is NO staff in the building to process the item.

How can I pick up items I put on hold?
Do NOT try to pick up an item on hold--the library building is closed.

Where can I drop off book donations for the library?
Do NOT try to drop off any book donations--the library building is closed and there is NO staff to collect them.

Library Card Information
During our closure, Cherry Hill residents without a library card can fill out
our online card application (email address required) to receive a temporary library card number and access our digital collections. Temporary library cards are valid until June 30, 2020.

Patrons who need to renew their library cards can email info@chplnj.org for assistance.
