Library Reopening Plan

The Library is now open to the public Monday - Friday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. with additional hours on Wednesday nights until 8 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Our policies:

  • A maximum of 25% indoor capacity is allowed as per the NJ Governor’s Executive Order.
  • If you feel any symptoms of COVID please stay home.
  • Metered access: 30 minute limits for patrons to be in the building.
  • Computer access: 30 minute limits for patrons per day.
  • Masks must be worn at all times and social distancing is required.
  • The Lower Level of the Library is closed to the public due to the space being used for quarantining of books and materials.
  • There are no rentals for Meeting Rooms or usage of the Group Study Rooms when the Library reopens.
  • Week of July 20: Wednesday nights and Saturdays will be added.
  • Hours of operation will be: Monday – Friday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Wednesdays, 10 a.m. - 8 p.m., and Saturdays 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Contactless Pickup is by appointment Monday - Friday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. At this time, we are not providing Contactless Pickup on Wednesday nights and Saturdays.

Contactless Pickup, Holiday Hours, & Holds

Contactless Pickup continues
Contactless Pickup is by appointment Monday - Friday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Patrons will be notified once items are ready for pickup.
You MUST make an appointment for pickup once you receive a notification. To make your appointment once you receive your notification, call 856.667.0300 x2. 
At this time, we are not providing Contactless Pickup on Wednesday nights and Saturdays.

Items can be placed on hold via our online catalog. If you have questions or need assistance, please email chplref@chplnj.org or leave a message by calling 856.667.0300 x2.
Library staff will answer questions Monday – Friday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Checking In of Materials & Late Fees

Checking In of Materials

  • Books, audiobooks, CDs, DVDs, and video games can all be returned now in our outdoor book drops at CHPL and at the Post Office on Marlkress Road.
  • Once your books and other items are received at CHPL they will be put into quarantine for 72 hours.
  • They will NOT be checked in until after quarantine.
  • This means they will not be removed from your account until after 72 hours.

Late Fees
Late fees started accruing on checked out items as of Wednesday, July 1. If you have questions about this, please email chplref@chplnj.org and a Librarian will get back to you between the hours of Monday – Friday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

  • You should receive notifications when newly checked out items are due back.
  • Please check your emails and voicemails.
  • You can log into your account and check the status of your materials from home.

  • CHPL is NOT accepting donations of books or materials.
  • Available space at the library is being used to quarantine returned items.
  • Goodwill and Better World Book bins are great places to drop off book donations.
