Bring a project of your own to work on during this social gathering. Sewing, knitting, crocheting, cross-stitch…you choose. This isn’t an instructional class, but we are always happy to help if you have questions.
Needlework Guild meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month from 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. We typically meet in the Multicultural Room, Lower Level. Occasionally sessions are held on Saturdays at the same time. Check our Events Calendar for exact dates.

This fall, please join us in creating a knit or crocheted item to donate to teens involved in Lucy Outreach. We are collecting handmade items like scarves, hats, and mittens. Once you have completed an item, bring it to the Circulation Desk and they will be displayed. After the holidays, all items will be delivered to Lucy Outreach, located in Camden. Lucy Outreach offers multi-lingual, culturally sensitive services to low-income Camden County teens and young adults ages 7-25, and their families.
When selecting yarn please remember the items will be given to teenagers.

Spring 2023 TBA
In 2017 many fabulous volunteers created coverings for items inside and outside the library. We had so much fun, we want to do it again in 2023! Locations for decorating will be pre-determined. Individuals or teams can select an item/location (first come- first served basis) that they will be responsible for covering in a yarn creation of their choosing. We will have a date for installation, and then the art will be displayed for a designated time period.
Stay tuned for specifics in 2023.
Please contact Kristin Redmond kredmond@chplnj.org or Claire Thomas cthomas@chplnj.org with any questions.

As part of NJ Makers Day 2023, on Saturday March 25, 2023 – we will host a craft supply swap. Throughout the month of March, please donate your unwanted craft supplies (sewing, fabric, yarn, beads, kits, painting supplies, etc.). On the day of the event, shop the swap! Last year we relied on donations, and the event was a huge success. No donations are required to take items homes. This is a great way to re-purpose items you no longer want, or a way to try something new and not spend a lot of money on a new hobby you may not like.
Individuals will be limited to one bag. As per NJ law, please bring your own bag.

Do you enjoy sewing? In the past we had events to sew items that can be donated to various charity organizations. Past projects included sewing and sending dresses and britches to Little Dresses for Africa, and making pillowcases for children undergoing cancer treatment for Ryan’s Case for Smiles.
We hope to have another sewing event in 2023.
