Explore on the Floor

No registration required. For babies and toddlers.

Use your imagination and see what you discover! There are stations throughout the Children's Floor with toys and activities that encourage creativity, learning, and skill building.

Homeschool Hangout
Every second Monday of each month.
11:00 a.m.
Craft Room, Upper Level
No registration required.

Gather, connect and play with other homeschool families. A science or craft activity will be available each session, but feel free to bring any other materials or lesson plans that you would like to share with other families. 

Just Right Story Time
Saturday, November 9
11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Craft Room, Upper level

*Register here. Recommended for children up to age 8 with a parent/caregiver.
Is regular story time too big? Too hard? Too loud? This small story time is just right for the child who needs extra attention or would benefit from a quieter story time. We will focus on structured activities including interactive stories, movement songs and sensory fun.

Yoga Story Stretchers
Saturday, November 23
10:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Craft Room, Upper level

Listen to some great stories and practice yoga poses. A great way to start your Saturday! Wear comfy clothing and socks.

Enjoy Just For Kids' streaming collection of kid-friendly and educational videos from home! From math and science-related homework help to your child's favorite televisions shows like Rolie Polie Olie, Dr. Seuss, and Sesame Street, you can be sure that your children are having fun and learning in a safe online environment that is free from ads!

 

 

1000 Books Before Kindergarten
Have you signed up for our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program yet? 1000 Books Before Kindergarten is an ongoing early literacy program which encourages families with children ages 0 to 5 to read to their children every day. The concept is simple and the rewards are priceless! Visit out 1000 Books page for more information and sign your child up in person or print out an application online and turn it in to the Youth Services desk. You will need a CHPL library card to register.

 

Children's and Young Adult Materials are fine free as of November 1st, 2018!
We are very excited to implement this positive change for our patrons, especially our younger ones! We encourage parents and caregivers to teach children that a public library is a community resource shared by everyone and that returning materials on time is all about sharing responsibly!

Any past late fees will remain on your account. Please visit a library service desk for payment so you can take advantage of our new fine free lending!
Any items checked out before November will still accrue late fees (even if the due date is after November 1).

While a majority of items will become fine free, certain special collection items will still accrue late fees such as (but not limited to):
