Libraries are for everyone! Cherry Hill Public Library is committed to ensuring that our library is a welcoming space for members of the LGBTQ community, their families, and allies. We also strive to have a broad range of programs and materials that meet the informational needs of LGBTQ patrons, as well as educate our entire community.
Digital Transgender Archive
The Digital Transgender Archive is an international collaboration among more than sixty colleges, universities, nonprofit organizations, public libraries, and private collections featuring digitized historical materials, born-digital materials, and information on archival holdings throughout the world. Stonewall Award Winning Books in the Library Collection
The first and most enduring award for GLBT books is the Stonewall Book Awards, sponsored by the American Library Association’s Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Round Table.
Lamda Literary Award Winners and Nominees in the Library Collection
The Lambda Literary Awards (the “Lammys”) identify and celebrate the best lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender books of the year and affirm that LGBTQ stories are part of the literature of the world
Pride at the Library
Every June, in recognition of Pride Month and the American Library Association’s Rainbow Book Month, the Cherry Hill Public Library hosts a series of programs to educate and celebrate the LGBTQ community. Past events have included movie and documentary screenings, rainbow and drag queen story times, and partnered programs with organizations such as Garden State Equality, PFLAG Collingswood, Mazzoni Center, and the Trans Oral History Project.

Kaleidoscope
Kaleidoscope is a community-based Gay-Straight Alliance. Kaleidoscope offers monthly student-led meetings in a safe, supportive environment for LGBTQ and allied teens to gather, socialize, organize, and help each other.
PFLAG Collingswood
Founded in 1973 after the simple act of a mother publicly supporting her gay son, PFLAG is the nation’s largest family and ally organization. Uniting people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) with families, friends, and allies, PFLAG is committed to advancing equality through its mission of support, education, and advocacy. PFLAG Collingswood is the chapter serving the South Jersey region.
Garden State Equality
Established in 2004, Garden State Equality (GSE) is the largest LGBT advocacy organization in New Jersey and one of the most successful statewide civil rights organization for the LGBT community in the nation. Their services include advocacy, policy work, and trainings.
HiTOPS
Health services and group support resources for people ages 13 to 26. They developed two support groups called “First & Third” and “PFLAG” for LGBTQ youth and their loved ones.
Jersey Gay Pride
Jersey Gay Pride is a non profit organization dedicated to promoting equality, respect, and awareness of causes important to the LGBTQ+ community of Southern New Jersey and surrounding areas through fundraisers, community-building events, and in-depth training sessions for our volunteers.
JFCS: Support for the LGBTQ Community
“JFCS provides a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for members of the LGBTQ community throughout their lives. We have created a place where sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression can intersect to be embraced, affirmed and celebrated.”
Project Rainbow Tweens (grades 6-8) and Teens (grades 9-12) Zoom Meetings
A safe, affirming, and fun monthly gathering for LGBTQ+ tweens (grades 6-8), teens (grades 9-12) and their allies. The Pride Center of New Jersey
Located in Highland Park, The Pride Center provides a “safe space” for the LGBTIQ community: a place to learn about the community from a vast array of resources, a place to socialize and meet new friends, and a place to gain acceptance and understanding of your gender and sexual identity in a comfortable setting.
NJ Gay Life
A NJ-centric online resource for the LGBTQ community. Features an events calendar, business directory, organization directory, and community blogs.
New Jersey LGBT Chamber of Commerce
An organization dedicated to strengthening LGBT businesses in the New Jersey tri-state area.
Transgender Information Hub
From Transgender.NJ.gov, this site provides resources, support and information for Transgender and Non-binary people of New Jersey.
William Way LGBT Community Center
From social groups, networking events, and counseling and support services to art exhibitions and cultural experiences, the William Way LGBT Community Center strives to provide new and innovative programs for the LGBT communities of Philadelphia.
Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Gender and Sexuality Development Clinic
The Gender and Sexuality Development Clinic (GSD Clinic) offers psychosocial and medical support for gender variant, gender expansive and transgender children and youth up to age 21 and their families.
Mazzoni Center
Mazzoni Center is dedicated to meeting the health and wellness of the LGBTQ communities.
The Attic Youth Center
The Attic creates opportunities for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning (LGBTQ) youth to develop into healthy, independent, civic-minded adults within a safe and supportive community, and promotes the acceptance of LGBTQ youth in society.
The COLOURS Organization
The COLOURS Organization has been providing community building and health and wellness services to the Black LGBT community in Philadelphia since 1991.
Penn Medicine LGBT Health Program
Penn LGBT Health takes a multidisciplinary approach to providing quality care to the LGBT community and partners patients with compassionate and skilled providers across the health system that offer culturally competent care in a judgment-free setting.
Eshel
Eshel’s mission is to create community and acceptance for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Jews and their families in Orthodox communities. Eshel Philadelphia meets the first Wednesday of every month from 7 – 9 p.m. at the William Way Center, 1315 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, PA.

Campus Pride
Campus Pride serves LGBTQ and ally student leaders and campus organizations in the areas of leadership development, support programs and services to create safer, more inclusive LGBTQ-friendly colleges and universities. It exists to develop, support and give “voice and action” in building future LGBTQ and ally student leaders.

GLSEN
GLSEN works to ensure that every student, in every school, to be valued and treated with respect, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. They work in hallways across the country — from Congress and the Department of Education to schools and district offices in local communities — to improve school climate and champion LGBTQ issues in K-12 education.
Equality Federation
Equality Federation is the movement builder and strategic partner to state-based organizations advocating for LGBTQ people. They work collaboratively on critical issues—from advancing workplace fairness and family recognition to defeating anti-transgender bathroom bans and HIV criminalization laws—that affect how LGBTQ people experience the world from cradle to grave.
GLAAD
GLAAD amplifies the voice of the LGBT community by empowering real people to share their stories, holding the media accountable for the words and images they present, and helping grassroots organizations communicate effectively. By ensuring that the stories of LGBT people are heard through the media, GLAAD promotes understanding, increases acceptance, and advances equality.
Human Rights Campaign
The nation’s the largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer Americans.
Lambda Legal
A national organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and everyone living with HIV through impact litigation, education and public policy work.
NALGAP: The Association of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Addiction Professionals and Their Allies
Membership organization dedicated to prevention and treatment of alcoholism, substance abuse, and other addictions in lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer communities.
National Center for Transgender Eqaulity
The National Center for Transgender Equality advocates to change policies and society to increase understanding and acceptance of transgender people. In the nation’s capital and throughout the country, NCTE works to replace disrespect, discrimination, and violence with empathy, opportunity, and justice.
National Resource Center on LGBT Aging
The National Resource Center on LGBT Aging is the country’s first and only technical assistance resource center aimed at improving the quality of services and supports offered to lesbian, gay, bisexual and/or transgender older adults. Established in 2010 through a federal grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the National Resource Center on LGBT Aging provides training, technical assistance and educational resources to aging providers, LGBT organizations and LGBT older adults. The center is led by SAGE, in collaboration with 18 leading organizations from around the country.
SAGE: Services and Advocacy for LGBT Elders
SAGE is the country’s largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives of LGBT older people. Founded in 1978 and headquartered in New York City, SAGE is a national organization that offers supportive services and consumer resources to LGBT older people and their caregivers.
Stonewall Outloud
Help us preserve the stories of LGBTQ elders before they are lost to history. To honor the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots, in June 2019, StoryCorps will ask people across the country to pick up their mobile devices and use the StoryCorps App to record the stories of people within the LGBTQ community who were born before the Stonewall Riots. Each of these interviews will become a permanent part of American history at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.
Who can participate? Everyone! Make plans to interview an elder and/or another member of the LGBTQ community.

Trans Lifeline

A non-profit dedicated to the well-being of transgender people that runs a hotline staffed by transgender people for transgender people. Trans Lifeline volunteers are ready to respond to whatever support needs members of the trans community might have. Trans Lifeline is accredited by Contact USA.
The Trevor Project
The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQ) young people under 25.

The Rainbow Book List is created by the Rainbow Book List Committee of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Round Table of the American Library Association. Originally a joint project between the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Roundtable and the Social Responsibilities Round Table, the Rainbow Book List presents an annual bibliography of quality books with significant and authentic GLBTQ content, which are recommended for people from birth through eighteen years of age.
