Kids: Early Literacy Ages 0-5

This program supports the development of early literacy skills that foster a lifelong love of reading. Complete six or more mission activities from the CHPL Early Literacy Mission to earn a free book and one virtual raffle ticket for one of our grand prizes!
Kids: Ages 5-11 (Grades K-5)

Every minute you spend reading earns you 1 point! Reach milestones of 300, 600, 1000, and 3500 points to receive exciting prizes. Log your reading every week for the chance to win a $10 Five Below Gift Card. Use your points to enter raffles for one of our grand prizes awarded at the end of the summer.
*Caregivers are welcome to register their children for the Summer Reading program that best fits their needs, especially if they are between Pre-K & Kindergarten or 5th & 6th grade. Click here to learn about the Teen Summer Reading Program for grades 6-12.
Teens: Grades 6-12

Earn points throughout the summer by logging minutes spent reading, writing book reviews, completing missions, and attending teen programs. Spend your points on raffle tickets for one of our amazing grand prizes! Every teen who registers for summer reading will earn a FREE gift which must be redeemed at the library.
Adults: 18+

Join us for a chance to win awesome prizes! Just for registering, adults will earn a spin on the Reference Department’s PRIZE WHEEL. Adults can earn points for entries into the grand prize raffles by logging books, writing book reviews, completing missions, and attending select Library events for adults.
- Who can participate?
Children, teens, adults, and even kids who are not yet reading—there’s a program for everyone!
- How do I create a family account? Does every reader need their own login?
If you are a parent or guardian and would like to create a family account to manage your children’s logging, simply follow the directions in Readsquared to create an account for yourself, then follow the prompts to register each child. If you have already created an account for yourself, log in and click on the “Account” button on the top menu of your screen, then select “Add Child Account.” If your child also already has an account, select “Link Existing Account.”
- Can I count books that I read on my computer or e-reader? Can I count audio books?
Of course! It’s all the same to us. If you are logging minutes, anything you read counts.
- Can I join the program after its official start date?
Of course! And if you can remember any reading that you’ve done since the program’s official start date of June 22, you’re welcome to go back and count that. The last day to log any reading is August 10.
- I forgot my password. How can I retrieve it?
Since you entered your email address when you registered, you can retrieve your password via email. From the Login page, click on “Did you forget your password? Get it by email.”
- I forgot my username. How can I retrieve it?
Your username should be the email address you signed up with. If you are still having trouble, email staff at summerreading@chplnj.org for assistance.
- Does the Primary Account Holder have to participate in a Summer Reading Program?
Nope! The Primary account holder is responsible for being the login for a group of linked readers. But we always encourage them to participate anyway!
- Can people use the same library card to register?
Yes! Because families often share a library card, the library card number doesn’t need to be unique to every individual user.
- Is it required for students to list what school they go to and what grade they’re entering in September?
Yes, it is required to include this information at registration. There is a “homeschool” option for homeschool students and “other” option for students who attend a school outside of Cherry Hill.
